- Iron and ferritin: Iron level and iron stores
- Magnesium, calcium, phosphorus: Bones, muscles and nerves

Tumour Markers for Women

For: Women advised by their doctor, women with a strong family history of cancer, and women in follow-up after treatment.
- AFP
- CA 19-9
- CA 125
- CA 15-3
- CEA
Preparation: No fasting needed. Best done outside your period (CA 125).
Good to know: Markers alone cannot diagnose or rule out cancer.
See all tests and why they matter
Tumour markers can be higher in some cancers, but also with infections, inflammation, pregnancy, periods and other harmless conditions. A normal result does not rule out cancer, so a doctor reviews results with your history. For breast and cervical cancer, the recommended screening tests are mammography and the Pap smear; our gynaecology clinic offers Pap smears and breast health checks.
What's included
- AFP: Liver
- CA 19-9: Pancreas and digestive tract
- CA 125: Ovaries
- CA 15-3: Breast
- CEA: Bowel and other organs

- AFP
- CA 19-9
- PSA profile
- CEA
Preparation: No fasting needed. No cycling or sex for 48 hours before (PSA).
Good to know: Markers alone cannot diagnose or rule out cancer.
See all tests and why they matter
Tumour markers can be higher in some cancers, but also with infections, inflammation and other harmless conditions. PSA, for example, also rises with an enlarged prostate or a prostate infection. A doctor reviews your results with your history before any next step.
What's included
- AFP: Liver and testes
- CA 19-9: Pancreas and digestive tract
- PSA profile: Prostate
- CEA: Bowel and other organs
